The Department of Sociology and Policy is seeking to appoint an outstanding Lecturer/Senior Lecture/Reader in Epidemiology/Medical Statistics/Quantitative Social Science. The appointment is intended to strengthen and build new research activities in the Centre for Health and Society (CHS) and to support and lead teaching on the Masters in Public Health (MPH).
The post holder will have a strong track record of research in epidemiology or quantitative based health research appropriate to career stage. You will have well-developed plans for future research and collaboration at national and international levels. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with a strong track record in research impact and public engagement. Candidates applying at senior lecturer or reader level will be expected to have a track record of external grant capture. Candidates applying at all levels will be expected to contribute to increasing levels of grant income and the international reputation of CHS.
In addition, the post holder will be expected to lead teaching in epidemiology and quantitative research in health. A strong understanding of basic epidemiological principles, concepts and procedures is essential. The post holder will be a flexible self-starter who is able to engage actively with team members, students, and other potential collaborators in sustaining innovative taught programmes. You will be committed to excellent teaching and be motivated to provide the very best experience for students.
