An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced carpenter to join a busy Maintenance & Engineering Team within the Estates and Capital Developments department at Aston University in Birmingham. 

Reporting to the Building Team Supervisor the successful candidate will carry out general carpentry and building works maintenance at the Aston University Birmingham City Centre campus and Recreation Centre in Walsall. The successful candidate would also carry out some minor construction projects.

The ideal candidate must have a formal qualification in carpentry or bench joinery and relevant experience. Applicants must have good written and spoken English skills. Accuracy, attention to detail and high level of organisation are a prerequisite. A strong customer service focus is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal contacts at various levels. 

The working hours are Monday 7:45am – 4pm, Tuesday to Friday 8am – 4pm 

There are 25 paid annual holidays in addition to 13 University / Bank Holiday closure days

Optional Ad-Hoc overtime available

All hand tools, power tools and uniform / PPE will be provided

Training will be provided where needed and updated at regular intervals.
