An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Mathematics Department to provide teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students across all the Mathematics programmes at Aston in a blended (online and in-person) setting.

You will develop teaching materials and deliver taught sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate mathematics students on Aston University’s Campus in Birmingham and on our virtual learning environment (synchronous and asynchronous delivery). You will work closely with the Programme Directors within the department to develop new and innovative teaching materials and strategy as the Department moves towards a new, blended method of delivering material to its students. You will also develop assessment materials, conduct assessments, and provide timely feedback to students on their progress and attainment. You will have some pastoral responsibility for students such as acting as a personal tutor and placement tutor.

You will be educated to at least degree level with a good honours degree in mathematics or mathematical sciences (joint honours degree with a major mathematics component is acceptable). You will also have attained, or be working towards, a recognised postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCertEd) and Fellowship of AdvanceHE (FHEA) or higher. Experience in successfully delivering a mathematics provision to undergraduate or postgraduate students is highly desirable, as is experience delivering material via online platforms such as Zoom, BlackBoard etc. You will be hardworking, motivated and student-focused, and able to adapt to new situations and requirements. You will need to be able to work independently and as part of a larger team of academics.
