A post for a postdoctoral synthetic medicinal/organic chemist is available within the College of Health and Life Sciences. The post is externally funded and is initially available for 6 months with the possibility of a further 6-month extension.

The appointed medicinal chemist will work in a team which has the objective of developing novel small molecule inhibitors of transglutaminases which can eventually be used as drugs for the treatment of fibrosis. The team will include both biologists /biochemists and medicinal chemists. The main responsibility of the appointed medicinal chemist will be the synthesis and characterisation of potential small molecule inhibitors of transglutaminases.

Applicants should have good undergraduate degree in chemistry or medicinal chemistry. A PhD in synthetic medicinal or organic chemistry with the appropriate laboratory experience in synthetic medicinal or organic chemistry.
