The School of Psychology and Institute of Health and Neurodevelopment are seeking to appoint a Chair in Pediatric or Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience to contribute to, develop and enhance the research and teaching activities of the school independently, and as part of a team, through professional practice and expertise.
We are seeking and outstanding individual to provide leadership within the Aston University School of Psychology and Institute of Health and Neurodevelopment in the remit of developmental neuroimaging. The postholder will lead and drive the development and delivery of world leading paediatric/developmental cognitive neuroscience research with a specific focus on imaging using MRI.
IHN is one of the four flagship Research Institutes within Aston University, with state of the art, paediatrically tailored research facilities including MRI Laboratory with Magneton Prisma 3T scanner, fully staffed by research radiographers, the Wellcome Trust Laboratory for MEG Studies with paediatrically optimised, Elekta Neuromag Triux, as well as EEG and TMS laboratories and a variety of behavioural observation and supporting resources including biomedical facilities and an immersive virtual environment. Aston University has a thriving research culture, with strong links with Birmingham Children’s Hospital. IHN has a focus on translational research from molecules to minds; undertaking cellular and fundamental neuroscience through to application within clinical, service and educational settings.
Our world-class research facilities include:
- Family friendly Neuropsychology Assessment Labs.
- The Aston Nutrition and Behaviour Laboratory (ANBL), which includes dedicated kitchen facilities, a child friendly observation room with Tracksys multi perspective observation system and Observer software including Facereader.
- An ensuite sleep laboratory.
- The Aston Laboratory for Immersive Virtual Environments (ALIVE) with a dedicated VR facility that includes the world’s largest rectilinear CAVE, a Vicon 12 camera motion capture lab, omnidirectional treadmills, driving simulator, and various head-mounted displays.
- The Aston Neuroimaging Facilities (ANF) including a 3T MRI, 306 Channel MEG various EEG systems, Magstim TMS system (single-pulse, repetitive), and a Starstim HD tES-EEG system.
The successful candidate will join an open and inclusive group of Psychologists who deliver accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Psychology and should have some experience of undergraduate or postgraduate teaching.
