Applications are invited for a Research Associate position funded by the BBSRC to investigate the mechanisms of pain in the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University. We employ a combination of experimental approaches including behaviours, in vivo gene delivery, histology, ELISA, molecular biology, qRT-PCR, western blotting, Ca2+ imaging and electrophysiology to tackle our research questions. You will have the opportunity to develop comprehensive research skills and enhance your research profile in a well-funded laboratory.

The successful candidate must have a PhD or M.D. (or be near completion) in Neuroscience, Pharmacology or a related biological discipline. We are seeking a motivated individual committed to high quality research with evidence of creative and critical thinking. The post holder is expected to have proven skills in behaviors and drug administration. Ability to design and execute experiments independently and communicate scientific findings at conferences is essential. You would also benefit from having experience in any of the experimental approaches to be used described above. Appropriate training will be provided where required. A current UK Home Office Personal License (PIL) will also be desirable.
