This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious graduate with the ability and confidence to manage a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with Crompton Technology Group, a Collins Aerospace Company.
The University of Manchester is looking to recruit an R&D Engineer (KTP Associate) to undertake this 24 month project at Crompton Technology Group which has an overall aim of designing, manufacturing, and characterising complex-shaped polymer based composite pipes for next generation aircraft.
The position will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to utilise advanced composite fabrication testing and characterisation techniques to optimise product design and performance of composite components used in the aerospace industry.
Candidates will require a recently-obtained minimum of a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science, with background in solid mechanics and stress analysis and preferably with some understanding of composite materials and non-destructive evaluation such as Acoustic emission.
This post is funded through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) award, a UK Government scheme intended to promote sustained and mutually beneficial relationships between universities and industry.
Based at Crompton Technology Group in Banbury, UK, the successful candidate will work directly with supervisors from both the University and Crompton Technology Group and will use the facilities and resources of both organisations.
