The role

As a Quality & Development Lead / Academic Mentor, you will have responsibility for the development and quality of delivery of our academic mentors to our learners. You will play an important role in supporting and developing the team’s skills. You will work with the Academic Mentor Manager, Lead Internal Quality Assessor and the various programmes to ensure that we deliver the support required for learners within Work Based Learning in accordance with the College’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy.

Degree Apprenticeship programmes are delivered through online and distance learning, supported by short periods of residential study on campus and a significant element of workplace learning and assessment. The progression of each student is overseen by a team of academic mentors, each looking after a set caseload of employed students, they are peripatetic, conducting their roles at employer organisations and online.

The post is specifically required to manage the support and development of the team, with a focus on the quality of support to learners and the skills needed by the team to deliver them.  That focus is on the development journey of academic mentors, quality of the support offered to work based learning including the portfolio and work based project through our e-portfolio Onefile.

You will also support the Academic Mentor as being a specialist in the use and application of Onefile, recruitment and training of the team as well as managing a caseload of apprentices.
