About the opportunity

The Daffodil Centre is a joint venture between the University of Sydney and Cancer Council NSW. This flagship centre combines the strengths of both organisations and the shared goal of a cancer-free future. We are looking for a Qualitative Health Researcher (Level A Academic) to work on a co-designed project that aims to understand how we can improve access to professionally run support groups for people with metastatic breast cancer in Australia.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • conduct interviews with patients, support group facilitators and key stakeholders
  • analyse interview data using NVivo
  • contribute to or lead the writing of a paper for submission to a peer-reviewed journal
  • collaborate with external researchers, consumers and stakeholders within and beyond the project team
  • provide qualitative research support to other projects within the Daffodil Centre as required

About you

  • post graduate qualifications in public health, psychology or relevant experience within a health setting
  • prior experience conducting interviews
  • prior experience with qualitative data analysis, such as thematic analysis or grounded theory
  • prior experience writing reports or articles for peer-reviewed journals
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong cultural competencies
  • excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively build relationships with external researchers, consumers and stakeholders.
