Applications are invited for the position of Public Engagement Coordinator at the Wellcome ¿ MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/ ). The Institute is a world-leading centre of excellence in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, supported by the Wellcome Trust and the Medical Research Council. The Institute comprises over 350 scientists whose research spans fundamental science through to clinical applications. Our vision is to develop a deep understanding of stem cell biology for the prevention and treatment of human disease. The role will be based at the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Public engagement (PE) is an essential part of our work. The Institute's PE Strategy (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/about-us/engage ) outlines our four strategic aims, target communities and outcomes. Delivery of the strategy is led by our PE team, with support from our academic champion and professional services colleagues.

The Public Engagement Coordinator will help deliver and expand the Institute's PE programme, broadening the public, patient and community groups we engage with through face-to-face events and remote engagement activities. This will include event coordination, such as planning, promotion, logistics, evaluation and financial administration, as well as developing activities and digital content co-created with public and patient groups. You will be required to both contribute to ongoing projects and provide one-to-one assistance for new researcher-led initiatives.

The role holder will also monitor and analyse the Institute's public engagement database, evaluation data and project expenditure. They will deliver secretariat support as a member of the Public Engagement Steering Committee.

The Public Engagement Coordinator will report to the Public Engagement Manager but will also liaise with the Institute's Communications team and PE colleagues across the University. Where activities are planned outside of working hours, some evening and weekend work may be required.

Applicants should demonstrate a proven track record of project coordination or administration, ideally including events experience and contact with public groups or researchers. You should have excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Strong design and editorial skills are desirable, as are advanced IT skills focussed on website editing, design and/or databases.

We are looking for a creative and methodical individual who is eager to apply their existing knowledge to iterate and improve our engagement approach.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 21 November. We plan to conduct interviews via Zoom on Thursday 25 November.

Though this is envisioned as a full-time role with the possibility of hybrid working, we will consider requests for arrangements such as part-time work, flexible hours or job shares.
