We are looking for a partnership manager to support the recently awarded Met Office Academic Partnership (MOAP) at the University of Birmingham. The university is one of a select group of just eight UK universities that make up their prestigious MOAP programme. As manager for the partnership, the post holder will be responsible for day-to-day operational management and helping the joint chairs ensure successful delivery of the partnership. The task will necessitate co-ordinating the efforts of ca. 40 staff based within the University mainly located across the 2 colleges of LES and EPS. The demands of the role will be varied and may include the organisation of MOAP events at UoB minute taking at official meetings (e.g. Research Advisory Panel) supporting preparation of grant proposal material, managing admin requirements for associated PhD students, monitoring and recording progress and activities, and ensuring that all Met Office requirements for reporting and auditing are met for the duration of the project, in line with University policies. The Partnership Manager will also contribute to identifying appropriate opportunities for new and follow-on activities that emerge during the delivery of the partnership, with support from UoB and MO staff.
Main Duties
- Responsible for the delivery of one or more projects or for contributing to larger University projects, through the provision of significant and high level project management support. This may include some or all of the following:
- developing project plans, identifying (as appropriate) key performance indicators and milestones
- reviewing and auditing progress on projects to identify and act on improvements to effectiveness, efficiency and delivery
- reporting on progress including the development of reporting mechanisms, writing reports (eg on project budgetary management), and presenting to appropriate meetings such as Project Board or to other key stakeholders
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- Qualified to Degree level or equivalent plus practical managerial experience or significant relevant experience demonstrated through increasingly more demanding roles evidencing the experience necessary for this role
- Proven track record of successful project management, preferably using one or more project management tools such as Prince2
- Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly, and to produce and analyse information and data.
