The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

The Centre for Global Mental Health was founded as a collaboration between LSHTM and King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurosciences. CGMH has since led developments in the field, from trials of innovative service interventions and research into mental health in emergencies, to running a respected MSc in Global Mental Health.

We are seeking to employ an experienced Project Manager, who has previously managed large, multi-country research projects in global health. This role is central to the effective functioning of a pioneering research project called SUpport, Comprehensive Care and EmpowErment for people with psychosocial Disability in Africa (SUCCEED Africa). SUCCEED is an international research consortium made up of partner universities in Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and LSHTM, and is focused on developing and evaluating an intervention for community-based mental health care and support in Africa, with a strong emphasis on participation of people affected by mental health problems through co-production of research.

In its fourth year of six, SUCCEED is funded by UK aid from the Health Research Programme Consortium scheme of FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office).

The post-holder will have higher education to degree level or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience. The post is part-time 21 hours per week, 0.6 FTE, fixed-term until 31 March 2025 and available from 20 March 2024.

The salary will be on the Professional Services scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947-£47,716 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro-rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
