The Aston Logistics and Systems Institute is seeking to appoint a Project Manager to support the delivery of a project called: “Repowering the creation and extension of UK-centric supply chains”, known as UK-Centric Supply Chains. The post is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The project will help companies in the food and drink, automotive and associated manufacturing sectors to map, assess and improve the capabilities of their supply chains with the view to grow and to maximise UK content. 

You will be working with colleagues with expertise in a range of supply chain domains (including procurement, logistics and production/manufacturing operations). This is an opportunity to become a member of a vibrant team with a successful track record. It is a particularly exciting time as the group is extending its business support and research activities in a number of areas, including supporting the food and drink and associated manufacturing sectors.

The Project Manager has a crucial role in supporting the Project Director and team to provide support and expand our emerging research and engagement activities around the topic of supply chain and KPI’s for the project. He/she will also support any work with the Director, Business Engagement Managers, Project Co-ordinator, Research Associate and Academics to deliver support to the SME’s. The project will also deliver workshops to assist businesses to consider strategies to improve maturity of companies’ supply chains. This post is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The applicant should have a University degree in supply chain management or another relevant subject and/or have equivalent experience/ qualifications, proven experience and strong analytical ability to deliver objectives, deliverables and milestones in a timely manner. Excellent verbal, written and communication skills with the ability to liaise with team and business. Excellent presentation skills with a proactive attitude, able to take advantage of opportunities and be flexible and responsive to change. Ability to use Microsoft packages (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) to a high standard. Willingness to travel to the Marches and Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough LEP areas to visit the businesses or take part in workshops.
