The impetus for this Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Thorlux Lighting and WMG, University of Warwick comes from Thorlux’s continuous efforts to improve their social, environmental and financial outcomes. This KTP will reinvent Thorlux’s business processes from the inside-out, embedding circular economy principles at the heart of everything they do.
Primarily based at Thorlux’s headquarters in Redditch, you will be working as part of a collaborative research project and must work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team. You should be able to take responsibility for managing and delivering the project and have the confidence and ability to embed the new knowledge into the team through training, paired working and a number of other methods.
This position is a 24-month fixed term contract and offers a dedicated training budget of up to £4,000 tailored towards your personal development.
You will need to hold at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Engineering Business Management (or equivalent) and an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Engineering Business Management, Sustainability (or equivalent) or comparable industrial experience.
As a minimum, we will need the following: Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills together with the ability to work with senior management staff, excellent oral and written communication skills, including a patient approach to knowledge transfer activities, industrial experience in manufacturing or engineering environments, an ability to work alone and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, a proven ability to problem solve, excellent organisational skills and experience of delivering results under pressure.
It is desirable that the successful candidate has: experience of working within the Operations and Supply Chain Function and experience of managing and tracking a complex project.

Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
Your aim is to support Thorlux to achieve their goal of moving to a circular economy. You will research and use the latest circular and supply-chain thinking to develop new circular approaches across Thorlux’s business. Working as part of collaborative team, you will oversee the implementation of the new approaches and embed the new knowledge into the Thorlux team through training, coaching, paired working and related documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
• Embed circular economy principles into cross-functional teams at Thorlux, including the senior leadership, sales and marketing, supply-chain and operations and product development teams.
• Lead pilot design, implementation and evaluation for new, circular initiatives and processes within Thorlux.
• Work with the Thorlux team to map and document current processes and requirements to define the scope of the project
• Identify quick wins to improve productivity and sustainability across Thorlux
• Research latest circular economy thinking to develop recommendations
• Working with the Thorlux team, create buy-in for the proposed solutions and develop detailed process maps and action plans to support implementation
• Develop a metrics framework to allow the business to measure performance against key objectives for the new circular business model
• Develop training material and communications packs to embed knowledge within Thorlux
• Track progress against the project at all key stages
• Engage with stakeholders across the business to create engagement and communicate project status and outcomes
• Define a personal development plan with the help of Thorlux and WMG University staff, and attend all necessary KTP related courses, events, management and reporting meetings as and when necessary.
• Contribute to the preparation of reporting material for the project Steering Committee and support day to day project management tasks.
• Maintain constant communication with Thorlux and WMG staff, University departments and the project steering committee in order to plan, execute and manage the KTP-related activities.
• Responsible for establishing dissemination channels and methods (e.g. training courses, dissemination events and presentation, discussion forums, training material, detailed project documentation) in order to ensure an effective knowledge transfer to the Thorlux staff.
