Are you a talented Mechanical Design Engineer within the building services industry looking for something a bit different?
The Directorate of Estates and Facilities is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to come and join our Minor Works Team to work on a diverse variety of refurbishment and maintenance projects across the University campus.
Recent projects undertaken by the Minor Works Team include creation of an editing suite, various lab refurbishments and conversions involving installation of fume cupboards and medical gases, solving water flow issues, replacing steam valves and designing heating solutions for sports facilities. The individual projects have construction values up to £500k.
The work is carried out across the University’s campus and involves working on all our buildings from modern new builds through 60’s constructed buildings to our numerous listed buildings.
You will be professionally qualified and have a good understanding of the building services industry and a good level of design experience. You will ideally have seen projects from inception to completion and will be comfortable working on multiple projects at any one time. You will have up to date knowledge of building regulations and legislation and will be able to use a variety of design software specific to the building services industry such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD etc.
