  • FTE – GEMINI - Genetic Evaluation of Multi Morbidity towards Individualisation of Interventions headed by Professor Tim Frayling, made up of a team of lead researches based within Exeter, working closely with other scientists in Barcelona, Oxford, Leicester and Norwich.

0.1FTE – US National Institute of Health (NIH) grant ref 1R01HD101669. Integrating genomic studies of gestational duration and birth weight to understand maternal and fetal causes of adverse pregnancy outcomes and links with later diseases, headed by Dr. Rachel Freathy in Exeter, working closely with other scientists in the USA and Sweden. Birth weight and the length of gestation are important pregnancy outcomes. Extremes of birth weight and preterm birth are associated with poor health outcomes for mothers and babies in both the short and long term. The goal of this study is to bring together genomic analyses of gestational duration and birth weight, to identify maternal and fetal genetic influences on gestational duration and birth weight, and to understand better the links between these pregnancy outcomes and later life diseases. The research team will analyse large data sets collected from US, UK and Northern European countries.
