We are seeking a Programme Manger to lead the development and implementation of the new Data Action Accelerator, which brings people with complementary knowledge and skills about data and digital innovation together in a critical mass focused on NHS problem solving ¿ learning from each other in a secure NHS-led facility.

Led by Professor Iain Buchan, the Data-Action Accelerator will bring digital research, training, and practical NHS applications together in a new physical space (Liverpool Science Park) where NHS analysts, researchers, and engineers work side-by-side in a secure NHS-led data facility.

Staff will work on digital solutions for: using antibiotics better so bugs don¿t become so resistant to them ¿ harming individual patients and shutting hospital wards; finding potentially harmful prescriptions sooner and helping the prescriber and the patient to (de)select and use medicines safely; tackling the mental health crisis, which also makes physical illnesses worse, especially in deprived areas; using data to target new diagnostic technologies to the right patient at the right time so the NHS gets better value from them.

The team are now looking for an experienced and well organised individual who can lead the development and implementation of the new research programme, including contract management and planning implementation and risk management and to manage the relationship with the funder (office for Life Sciences) and support the growth and sustainability of the accelerator.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be highly organised and structured with the ability to create solutions to complex problems
  • Understand the management of risk whilst helping to devise pragmatic solutions
  • Work collaboratively and inclusively to build systems that work across boundaries
  • Understand the need for openness and transparency in the field of health innovation
  • Be driven by the desire to improve health outcomes
  • Understand the need for a Team Science approach to impactful delivery

The post is available on a fixed term basis until the 31 December 2026 with hybrid/flexible working. When in the office, the role will be based in the Liverpool Science Park.

You should have a degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Ms Ellie Fielding (CDC Programme and Operations Manager) [email protected]

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 50% on campus.

The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
