Program Manager - AD-PRAMS

Job Purpose Reporting to the Primary Investigators of the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), this post will be primary support for the operational leads for the PRAMS project.

  • Responsible for smooth running of day-to-day activities of study team
  • Responsible for liaison with Data security team

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the program strategy, as well as annual business plans.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the program budgets and report back on a timely basis to ensure that divergences are addressed promptly.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of management, supervisory, and administrative duties for the program; and to perform related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates, reviews and evaluates surveillance and epidemiology programs and activities for the PRAMS program to include, vital statistics, maternal and child health
  • Supports procedures; serves as a resource and technical consultant to departmental officials, physicians, nurses, the public, and other agencies involved in the study.
  • Supports interviews and team selection of job applicants as requested, responds to work issues, prepares documentation and improvement plans for any deficiencies.
  • Manages databases in partnership with Data security and KU Data Research team
  • Ensures policies, procedures and protocols for the epidemiology PRAMS programs and activities are aligned to ensure smooth research operations.
  • Applies grant applications, supports and oversees appropriate use of grant funds; monitors contracts
  • Supervise professional, technical, and clerical personnel
  • Support epidemiologic investigations
  • Contract and budgeting monitoring
  • Supervision, program planning and administration, contract/budget monitoring, and grant writing
  • Collaborative program evaluation with Academic and Research leadership
  • Supports hiring, training, coaching, with Academic and Research leadership
  • Proficient in using statistical software s packages such as SPSS, STATA, SAS or R
  • Recommend evidence-based interventions and control measures in response to epidemiologic findings.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Collects epidemiological data through medical record reviews in multiple health systems.
  • Enters, manages, and cleans surveillance and study data in databases related the Telephonic interveiw and Data securtity teams
  • Ensures data in software packages such as SPSS, STATA SAS or R with research team are available to statisticians and other team members.
  • Supports data, reports, and presentations for external partners, as well as for internal use.
  • Liaison as directed with partnered medical facilities
  • Supports telephone interviews for various internal/external needs.
  • Undertakes sub-study analyses as directed by Study Leadership
  • Performs assigned responsibilities as directed.

General

  • Ensures adherence to the University's information security policies and procedures, and reports breaches or other security risks accordingly.
  • Ensures coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
  • Performs any other tasks assigned by the Study Leadership (CoPIs) and the line managers.
  • Supports periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow is running smoothly. Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching, guidance and mentoring as required to enhance the internal capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • MSc/PHD/MD/other Doctoral Degree holder in Public Health/Epidemiology
  • Surveillance Epidemiologist or Master’s prepared scientist
  • Background in life sciences and/or experience in epidemiology.
  • Background in Program/Study management
  • Prior leadership role in longitudinal studies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrable accomplishments in teaching, research, improving healthcare delivery, and/or service at a level commensurate to the requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills in working with various stakeholders, physicians, and the public or private entities

Required Experiences

  • Five (5) or more years in study/data management or epidemiology specialty
  • Regional, national or international experience in medical education Public Health/Epidemiology
  • Medical record review experience
  • Database management skills
  • SPSS, STATA, SAS and/or R experience in Epidemiology or health department experience
  • Experience with study enrolment
  • Experience in Interviewing techniques
  • Experience of managing a varied team with different specialties and skill sets
  • Experience in a field related to the program with three (3) or more years of direct experience conducting hospital/field surveillance and epidemiological analyses.
     Familiarity or experience with healthcare research programs in the Middle East.
