THE POST - Professor of Psychology
The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is looking to appoint an outstanding academic to join our highly reputable School of Education and Social Sciences as Professor of Psychology. This is one of 3 key Professorial appointments, demonstrating a strategic investment to further improve our research environment.
The School of Education and Social Sciences at UWS is internationally renowned for its excellent provision in Education and Social Sciences. This is a pivotal role and we welcome applications from candidates with a track record of research and knowledge exchange excellence, and highly collaborative research leadership. We are looking for candidates who are keen to develop distinctive signature research aligned with our ambitions in UWS Strategy 2025 (https://www.uws.ac.uk/media/6217/uws-strategy-2025.pdf ).
Specifically, we are looking for a new colleague to build on our REF2021 success and lead research within the Psychology subject area. The ability to secure significant external research funding, develop a highly collegial research culture and strategically coordinate research activities with colleagues across the Division (and School) is at the heart of this role.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading research to develop outstanding, research-based student experience, and lead the development of world-class MSc courses. You will also be highly knowledgeable in contemporary pedagogies, particularly in relation to co-creation and active learning, and be familiar with online learning environments and the principles of digital education, evidencing positive practice in these areas.
To demonstrate University’s commitment to this strategically important position, the successful applicant will be offered a fully-funded PhD studentship in addition to pledged support for major external funding applications.
