Professor of Psychology - Language Development

The School of Health Sciences seeks to appoint one full-time Professor of Psychology (Developmental) who will join the Manchester Child Study centre (https://sites.manchester.ac.uk/child-study-centre/ ) and will be central to the further development of our internationally leading research in Language and Communicative Development and our ESRC-funded International Centre for Language and Communicative Development (LuCiD, www.lucid.ac.uk ).  The candidate will also provide excellent teaching and learning opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Psychology.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have an established international record of research in the acquisition of language in the areas of morphology, syntax and/or pragmatics and a proven ability to win external research funding, collaborate effectively and provide intellectual direction. The main requirements of the post will be to make a significant contribution to the Child Study Centre, LuCiD group and the wider Division through the development and delivery of excellent research, leadership and mentoring and the provision of high quality teaching and learning opportunities for UG and PG Psychology students.

You will have a track record of excellence in research in Language and Communicative Development as evidenced by high quality international publications, research grant income, research leadership and effective postgraduate research student supervision. In addition, you will demonstrate evidence of successful academic leadership, management and mentoring, high quality teaching, excellent communication skills and have a record of successful knowledge exchange engagement with a range of audiences (e.g. policy maker, practitioner, general public).
