The University of Bristol Business School is a new organisation, committed to excellence in education and research and engagement. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader of the WEOPP group to cultivate academic excellence. You will be an accomplished academic in management (e.g. Organisation Studies/Behaviour, HRM, Public Management/Administration), capable of guiding and nurturing a team of international and ambitious researchers and educators.

WEOPP engages in research and teaching on a range of organisational forms and practices. It comprises approaches that are typically connected to wider social, political and cultural issues. Key current strengths include the areas of the future of work; governance, social justice and decent work; community wealth building; and creative participatory methods - https://www.bristol.ac.uk/business-school/about/academic-groups/work-employment-organisation-and-public-policy/ . This work has achieved significant impact, engagement and development of public policy across contexts from local and regional economies to global institutions.

WEOPP members publish (in) international, impactful, well-regarded and highly cited journals and books, as well as impact-generating policy briefings. We also attract external support and funding from research councils. We pride ourselves on our focus on interdisciplinarity and social science perspectives that connect the group to other Schools in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Law, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Health Sciences. We attract excellent doctoral researchers from across the globe who significantly contribute to building the research and teaching culture of the Business School.

This role will place the successful candidate at the forefront of steering the group's activities and fostering its growth and influence. Reporting to the Deputy Dean, you will lead a talented team, enhance academic standards, and elevate the profile of the WEOPP Group and the University of Bristol Business School locally and on the international stage.

As Head of WEOPP group, you’ll be involved in developing and implementing strategy and overseeing the group’s day-to-day activities in education and research, people management and advocacy. The Head of Academic group role is a crucial school leadership position and is allocated 0.5 FTE to perform. The appointee's remaining FTE will be against the Professor of Management position.
