Southampton Law School is seeking to appoint a Professor of Maritime Law to provide inspirational academic leadership within the Law School, undertaking management, research and educational activities and developing the School’s profile within the UK and internationally. We welcome applications from those with an interest in the following areas: Marine Insurance, Commercial Conflict of Maritime Laws, Ship Finance, and Maritime Arbitration. The successful applicant will be also expected to join the Institute of Maritime Law and participate in its growing research, enterprise, and professional training activities.

You will be responsible for the support and development of the research activities of the Law School through sustaining and enhancing a significant national and international reputation for academic excellence in Maritime Law along with the continued excellence in teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate level, offering leadership in design and development of modules and programmes.

Alongside this, you will provide management and leadership support as directed by the Head of School through the provision of expert advice and subject leadership along with performing strategic leadership and line management duties where required.

You will possess a LLB or equivalent and PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience, as well as having a significant national and international reputation in Maritime Law and a sustained record of excellence in research and teaching and learning activities including PhD supervision.
