Professor of Industrial Decarbonisation

The Bath Institute for Sustainability (IfS) is recruiting a new Professor of Industrial Decarbonisation to lead the industrial decarbonisation research strand in the University’s flagship research institute. The IfS brings together transdisciplinary expertise in tackling the most pressing climate and sustainability issues facing society. Critical to the future of industry in the UK, we need to decarbonise our industries, but more importantly make them sustainable and socially just. 

Focusing on circularity of processes and systems, we seek to be smart with carbon – capturing it for reuse, understanding the impact of the circular economy over a wide range of resources, and creating new and innovative processes, materials and products. As such, the University is intending to invest further in industrial decarbonisation, focussing particularly in further growing critical mass the following research areas: Manufacturing, Energy, Food, Construction, Electrification, Digitalisation, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Life-Cycle Assessment, Exploitation of AI and Electrochemical Processes. You will be a research leader in one or more of these fields.

Based in the Faculty of Engineering & Design, the appointed professor will lead research into the creation and management of people, products and processes for a decarbonized industry of the future.
