ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

The School of Business and Management is an AACSB accredited School - part of an exclusive group of less than 6% of the world's business schools. Its strategic vision is to be recognised as a centre of excellence, inspiring and empowering students and staff to realise their full potential for the benefit of society. Inspired by the history and values of Royal Holloway, University of London as a leader for progressive education, we embed issues of ethics, sustainability, and inclusion as core parts of our distinctive offering.

Our goal is to cultivate an inclusive environment where faculty and students can tackle the big questions facing business and society, immersing all with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the emergent, rapidly changing digital world.

Our research themes are wide-ranging, but all have one thing in common: they all aim to make a difference, from local communities to global impact. The 2021 Research Excellence framework indicated 82% of our research to be 'world-leading or internationally excellent', placing us at the top quartile in terms of outputs in the UK. Our reputation is reflected in our rankings:

  • The Complete University Guide 2024 - The Accounting and Financial Management Group is ranked 32nd in the UK.
  • The Times Higher Education World Ranking 2023 - We are ranked 41st overall in the UK and in the top 400 universities in the world.

To deliver on our shared research strategy, the School has the following structure for research and impact generation.

  • Five discipline-based research departments: Accounting and Financial Management; Marketing; Human Resource Management and Organisational Studies; Strategy, International Business and Entrepreneurship; Digital Innovation and Management.
  • Three Research Centres: Centre for Research into Sustainability (CRIS); Digital Organisation and Society (DOS); Centre for Critical and Historical Research on Organisations and Society (CHRONOS)

We are developing more research centres to cultivate activity in emerging disciplinary areas, business analytics, logistics and fintech, to name a few. The School is also a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), the European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and are signatories to the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

This is an exciting time to join us as we are looking to build on our current successes, heritage, and strategic location to become a leading department by investing in all areas of activity. We offer programmes at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, both nationally, from our Egham and Central London Campuses, and internationally, through our global partners, including Kaplan (Singapore) and Coursera. Additionally, the school is developing an ambitious portfolio of post-experience programmes.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The postholder might be required to undertake some work at other locations, including at our Central London Campus.
