The Department of Computer Science is looking to establish a new research group in Digital Resilience to support the UK national research agenda in how we respond to, or recover readily from, a shock or disruptive process to our digital infrastructure. This group will build on the success of the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security, one of only seven universities recognised by GCHQ’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as an Academic Centre of Excellence in both Cyber Security Research and Education. 

Role Responsibilities 

  • This involves establishing the group, developing the team, and supporting the University to develop this innovative multi-disciplinary agenda to include research in; technologies and architectures for digital resilience, cyber resilience, learning for disruption resistance and recovery, risk modelling and analysis, online crime and fraud, misinformation and disinformation, forensics, and other related fields.
  • You will be able to build on the already strong partnerships we have with Strathclyde and NPL, and harness the successful links to industry, charities and government departments through collaboration, innovation and impact. 

Essential Skills Required

  • Outstanding qualities and achievements in scholarship and research at a national and international level which have made a significant contribution to the advancement of their subject.
  • Significant academic publication record; evidence of contributions to conferences, professional meetings and societies at an international level and evidence of achievements in other external activities at an international level.  
  • Evidence of securing a significant amount of sustained research funding.
  • Proven management and leadership qualities at a senior level.
  • Evidence of high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
