Professor/Honorary Consultant in Obstetrics

Updated: 4 months ago
Location: City of Leicester, ENGLAND
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

About the role

You will be a high calibre clinician scientist (Obstetrics) with a research profile of well-established national/international standing. You will be based in the Department of Population Health Sciences and have a research profile aligned to the Social Science, Applied Healthcare, and Improvement Research (SAPPHIRE) group. The SAPPHIRE group has a strong focus on patient safety and safety culture, including in maternity and neonatal care.

You will be expected to be a significant research income generator, supervise a team of clinical and non‑clinical postgraduate and undergraduate researchers, and contribute to relevant undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.

You will also deliver clinically to the UHL maternity service, one of the largest maternity units in the country which offers specialist services to a diverse population. The services are to be reconfigured into a state-of-the-art new-build maternity hospital as part of the NHS New Hospitals Building Program. Currently services are provided over two sites (Leicester General and Leicester Royal Infirmary) and the successful applicant will be required to work flexibly across both. Applicants should be strong, visible clinical leaders with a track record of delivering maternity safety initiatives. There have recently been a number of changes in the structure and leadership of Women’s services with an increased emphasis on clinical safety and we are looking to embed high quality clinical research into our day-to-day clinical working.
