Product Owner

Here at the world-famous and internationally respected Wellcome Sanger Institute, we have an exciting opportunity for a talented Product Owner to join the Product Management team on a 2-year fixed-term contract.

About the Role

As the Product Owner, you will be responsible for implementing the future vision and feature definition for a suite of software products developed for the DNA Pipeline Laboratories to enable genetic sequencing at scale.

The main responsibilities are:

• Define the overall goals for the supported LIMS systems with management and stakeholders.
• Explicitly communicating the overall goals and priorities for the supported LIMS systems to the Institute.
• Ensuring that sample reception, tracking, processing, and data production processes are meeting the needs of the stakeholders, customers and the team..
• Creating and refining Product Backlog Items / User Stories with the stakeholders in DNA Pipelines and wider faculty groups.
• Prioritising Product Backlog Items / User Stories balancing the needs of stakeholders and the Institutes wider strategy.
• Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood by the development team and stakeholders.
• Maximising the value to the Institute resulting from the work of the development team.
• Working with the development team during retrospectives to identify problems and experiments to resolve or mitigate these in a no blame culture.
