The Role

Based at British Bakels, Bicester, you will help to achieve a Knowledge Transfer Partnership's objectives continuing with the development of systems for Bakels to enable Bakels to improve the quality of their products and improve efficiency by developing and enhancing the use of Near Infrared (NIR) technology in the quality control testing of ingredients.

You should have achieved a MEng Degree in a relevant technological field or a PhD in a related area of application together with experience using qualitative and quantitative research methods. Proficiency in practical engineering monitoring and control would be an advantage.

The KTP Associate will be an employee of Newcastle University, with co-supervision provided by Teesside University, but will spend most of their working time at the company's premises at Granville Way, Bicester. Although the contract is fixed-term for a duration of 15 months, more than 70% of KTP staff are made a permanent job offer by their KTP company.

British Bakels manufacture and distribute a range of baking ingredients and mixes, including breads, pastries, cakes and glazes. Bakels has established sales, customer service and technical teams to service the needs of the three sectors in which it operates - supermarkets, industrial bakeries and artisan bakers. Customers benefit from tailored support, which also includes support and advice with regard to packaging and equipment.
