With a student community of almost 30,000 and over 2,700 staff, Liverpool John Moores University is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

We are now seeking to appoint a Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC), Science and Engineering to lead the development and delivery of excellence in teaching, research, scholarship and enterprise. The Faculty of Science and Engineering is at the start of a transformative journey to redefine itself and bring together two distinct faculties into one, with a shared vision and collaborative approach to delivering an exceptional student experience.

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the PVC will provide inspirational and enterprising academic leadership that positions the Faculty as a sector leader. They will also grow and develop commercial partnerships and opportunities in the city, the region and beyond, to ensure the Faculty is resilient and future facing. The PVC will lead transformational change across the new Faculty, beginning with a full portfolio review designed to identify new areas of opportunity, curriculum innovations and new delivery models. The PVC will also provide institutional leadership around a thematic priority, to be agreed with the Vice-Chancellor.

You will have a strong track record of academic leadership, ideally at PVC/Dean level, and experience of developing strategic and impactful relationships between universities and industry. You will also have a comprehensive financial and commercial understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing higher education. You will be an inclusive leader with a track record of developing the potential of team members and forging authentic and impactful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
