PROJECT MANAGER for the Global Campus project

This role places you in a prime position to re-envision international university education. You will head a project that delivers Finnish university education to an international audience in new ways. At the same time, you will contribute to developing further the University of Helsinki’s teaching arrangements as part of the Services for Digital Education and Continuing Learning unit, which operates under the auspices of Teaching and Learning Services.

As project manager, you will create the Global Campus of the University of Helsinki together with your team, teachers, degree programme directors and a network of specialists. You will be able to recruit the members of your immediate team. The project will be free to select, design and redesign the Global Campus learning opportunities based on the University of Helsinki’s current or future courses. Your role can be likened to that of the CEO of a start-up within the University of Helsinki. Your activities will encompass the University of Helsinki as a whole, in addition to which you will have the opportunity to establish external partnerships. Attractive teaching and cost-effective teaching arrangements are prerequisites for the profitability of the Global Campus.

As project manager, you will report to the University of Helsinki’s vice-rector for academic affairs and digitalisation. Your workplace will be at the City Centre Campus, but like Global Campus, you will mostly work remotely in collaboration with the University’s teachers, service designers specialised in learning, educational technology specialists, education export specialists and students. The Global Campus project team will be part of the University of Helsinki’s Services for Digital Education and Continuous Learning unit, and you will be a member of the unit’s management group. The project manager’s monthly salary will range from €5,200 to €5,500, depending on the experience and expertise of the appointee. The position of project manager is offered for a fixed term until 31 December 2024.

Are you the project manager we are looking for?

You wish to make your mark on the development of international university education. You have a proven track record of completing development projects within a large organisation and, preferably, experience of a university or university of applied sciences as an education organisation. You feel comfortable working in a multicultural academic environment and have diverse interaction skills that help you establish productive collaboration. You take a naturally solution-orientated, active and independent approach to your work, and are able to keep track of all tasks. You communicate fluently in both Finnish and English.
