Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is a world-class institution providing exceptional education and training for the musicians, actors, stage managers and performers of the future. It is a top 50 QS World Ranking in Performing Arts. It is a one of five academic institutes in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media, Birmingham City University. Following the successful tenure of Professor Julian Lloyd Webber, the vacancy for the post of Principal arises at a time of major opportunity to take the RBC to the next stage as a world leading diverse and inclusive Conservatoire. Located in a new state of the art building at the University’s city centre campus, RBC is home to an outstanding suite of digital media facilities and includes the Birmingham School of Acting.

We are looking for an inspiring and creative leader with an outstanding track record of achievement in a relevant academic or related industry environment, who can bring current and forward-thinking ideas at the cutting edge of the sector and harness the wide-ranging strengths of RBC to articulate a clear and compelling vision.

Importantly, the Principal will deliver an inclusive and diverse agenda that enables RBC to be for Birmingham and contribute to the cultural life of the city. Our Principal will be recognised for excellence and quality in education, performance and research globally and for attracting a diverse and international student community. The Principal will be expected to deliver a mission to develop a financially sustainable, interdisciplinary, internationally-recognised and educationally excellent RBC for the twenty-first century with strong industry links and employable professional musicians and actors.
