The University has a rich heritage in providing Engineering education and the Black Country Observatory has predicted that business growth areas key to the regeneration of the region including advanced manufacturing and engineering, transport technologies (automotive and aerospace), and environmental technologies. To support this growth the University has recently invested in a multimillion-pound redevelopment of Engineering at its Telford Campus and it is into this exciting and innovative environment that it seeks to appoint a Principal Lecturer in Composites/Mechanics of Materials Engineering to join the multi-disciplinary team of professionals/academics in the School of Engineering.

The person appointed will: 


Contribute to the delivery and development of existing core engineering modules on our programmes, composites and mechanics of materials subject areas.


Contribute to the development and delivery of future modules in the new programmes offered in the School of Engineering.


Contribute to the wider student experience through personal tutoring, excellent class room teaching and providing support in and outside class rooms.


Identifies and conducts research and scholarly activity which is relevant to the lecturing role.


Integrates research into teaching and learning.


Identifies opportunities for income generation and/or entrepreneurialism through research, consultancy or professional practice


Supervise dissertation at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.


Actively pursue ways of collaborating with industry through involvement with the School’s courses and consultancy programmes


Attend conferences, meetings and short courses for the purposes of personal and technical development and present papers to outside bodies


Carry out administrative and other duties deemed necessary by the Head of School or Faculty Senior Management in line with the changing strategic objectives of the university. Specific objectives will be agreed through the university appraisal process.
