University of Nottingham Ningbo China is seeking to recruit a Preliminary Year Tutor in Art and Design

Your Responsibility

The primary purpose of the role will be to undertake teaching and provide advice as a member of a teaching team within an established programme of study. The post holder will also help to develop new course proposals and may contribute to curriculum development in the Centre.

The Role holder will have specific responsibility for identifying the learning needs of students and ensure that the content, methods of delivery and learning materials meet the defined learning objectives of architecture-related modules, including the convenorship of Introduction to Architectural Drawing and Graphics (A and B) and Principles of Design. Modules to be convened may change. Dependent on individual tutors’ aptitude and experience, there is also scope for their involvement in projects such as the design and delivery of summer schools and other bespoke training packages.

The role holder will be involved in the development of new teaching and assessment practices and/or developing systematic methods for evaluating and disseminating these practices within the Centre.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching and convening three semester-long modules to departmental standards 
  • Constantly identifying evolving students' needs and developing the curriculum 
  • Interacting with Faculty-level stakeholders to ensure currency of the education delivered
  • Contribute to the Centre's quality assurance and control.

About You

  • You should have a master degree in Art and Design or closely related area or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience.
  • You should have a good understanding of the needs of architectural students in a context where English is usually not their first language.
  • You should have a proven track record successful teaching art and design courses including studio components. 
  • You should be enthusiastic about helping students making the transition from high school to a British-style educational institution.
  • You should have excellent command of English to teach.
