The University for the Creative Arts is seeking to appoint experienced and well-qualified pre-sessional EAP tutors to teach on our online 6-week Art and Design or Business pre-sessional English courses. Tutors will provide approximately 18 hours of contact time per week in classes of no more than 18 students. These hours will comprise both taught lessons and individual tutorials. In addition, tutors will attend weekly meetings, participate fully in moderation and standardisation, grade formative and summative assessments, and undertake other administrative duties as necessary.

As a successful applicant, you will possess outstanding teaching skills and show how you have developed these skills to deliver content effectively online. You will ideally have experience working on UK pre-sessional courses and an interest in teaching English for Art and Design or the Creative Industries. All tutors must be UK-based for the duration of the contract.

You must be able to manage your time effectively, taking into account planning and preparation, and be prepared to approach project briefs creatively, cooperatively and with flexibility. You will continually seek to provide high-quality online instruction of the language, knowledge, skills and educational values required for study at degree level. You will be adept at promoting learner autonomy and individual research through tutorials.

Qualifications:

• Essential: Undergraduate Degree plus CELTA / DELTA / relevant PGCE

• Highly desirable: Post-Graduate degree in a relevant discipline such as TESOL/Applied Linguistics

Other Essential Requirements:

You will need a good quality laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, a headset (recommended) or speakers and a microphone, and a fast internet connection (recommended 30 Mbps minimum).

Contract Dates:

All dates below include a one-week induction prior to the start of teaching:

• 7 weeks – Monday 08/07/24 – Friday 23/08/24 (inclusive)

Contracts are offered on a fixed term basis for the dates given above.
