Overview

About the Role

We are advertising an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technician role in the Preclinical Imaging Core Facility at the Barts Cancer Institute CRUK Major Centre of Excellence, Centre for Cancer Biomarkers and Biotherapeutics.  The post-holder will support the Core Facility with synthesis, quality control and in vitro validation of radiolabeled agents (mainly biomolecules such as peptides and antibodies) for imaging or radionuclide therapy.  The post holder will also ensure the smooth daily operation and maintenance of the Cancer Imaging radiochemistry laboratory, providing technical, research and administrative support to researchers.  The post holder will be responsible for assisting and training academic and junior radiochemistry staff, students or internal/external collaborators in radiolabelling procedures, quality control techniques, supporting in vitro work, acting as the main RPS for the laboratory and ensuring laboratory equipment maintenance.

About You

Applicants must have a BSc in a biological, chemical or pharmaceutical science (a higher degree is desirable) and significant experience in radiopharmaceutical development, in particular radiopharmaceuticals based on radiometals.  Experience in in vitro techniques such as radioligand binding assays, cell uptake studies, radioimmunoassay and radioanalytical techniques would be highly advantageous as would be experience of preparation and formulation of agents for in vivo imaging studies.  The applicant should be ready to support and manage a busy laboratory that carries out both academic and industrial radiochemistry work as well as facilitate training visits from external collaborators.
