We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to work in a translational research group interested in understanding the cardiac substrate of atrial fibrillation. This British Heart Foundation funded 2-year Grade 7 position is ideally suited to a postdoctoral scientist with first-hand experience in cell culture and cells isolation from human tissues methods and single cell/single nucleus RNAseq. You will report to Professor Casadei and Professor Claudia Monaco. Further training will be available as will be opportunities and support for developing an independent research career. Over the last 10 years, researchers in the Casadei’s group were either finalists or winners in >30 Young Investigator Award competitions at national and international scientific meetings and five obtained personal Research Fellowship or Clinical Lectureships to pursue their independent research career

Your responsibilities will include taking initiative in the planning of research; conduct and plan own scientific work with appropriate supervision. You will also help identify and develop suitable techniques and apparatus, for the collection and analysis of data (e.g. single cell biology platforms, flow and mass cytometry, confocal microscopy, and associated techniques).

You will be required to hold a relevant Degree or equivalent qualification plus PhD and have experience in cell culture and cells isolation from human cardiovascular tissue. A publication record in peer-reviewed international journals would be desirable.

This is a full time appointment on a fixed term contract for 2 years and you will be based at the West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU.
