The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). We are looking for two postdoctoral researchers to join Lori Passmore’s group to study mRNA 3’ end processing. This work will build on recent advances in reconstituting the yeast and human machineries, on recent cryoEM structures from the group.

We are looking for enthusiastic scientists with a desire to work on challenging and rewarding projects as part of a friendly and supportive team. The first position will investigate the sequence specificity of CPF and CPSF. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within 6 months and expertise in high throughput sequencing methodologies. The second position will use cryoEM and other structural methods to investigate the structure of the mRNA 3’-end processing machinery. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within 6 months and expertise in structural biology and experience with purification of protein complexes.

The successful applicants will be awarded a three-year Career Development Fellowship or Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills.  The MRCLMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
