MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to undertake research investigating the structure and function of SMC (structural maintenance of chromosome) protein complexes such as cohesion and condensing. The new position will be located at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK within the group of Jan Löwe.
You will be an enthusiastic individual with a PhD in a relevant field of Biology, with a strong background in structural biology. The goal of the project is to understand the molecular mechanisms employed by SMC complexes in chromosome dynamics and maintenance through a combination of structural and functional approaches. Experience with cryo-EM will be helpful, as will be relevant experiences in biochemistry and/or molecular biology.

The successful applicant will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/ Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
