A postdoctoral position is available in the James lab at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB). We use multi-disciplinary approaches to address fundamental questions in infection and immunity. You will join a highly integrated and motivated team with diverse skills and expertise across molecular biology. You will investigate the mechanism of action of TRIM21 and use this information to guide our ongoing development of ‘Trim-Away’ protein depletion technology. A particular focus of this project will be the engineering of antibodies, TRIM21 and other factors to increase protein depletion efficiency and allow therapeutic applications.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in molecular or cellular biology or biochemistry. Experience in cell assays, construct design or protein expression/engineering would be highly beneficial. A background in ubiquitin biology and/or antibody therapeutics would also be an advantage. An ability to work independently on dedicated projects is important but also to provide support and become involved with other projects in the lab.
The successful applicant will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/ Postdoctoral Training Scheme position. This is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, is moving into a new research discipline or has limited experience of key transferable skills. The MRC LMB has excellent scientific core facilities and training opportunities.
The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is an entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found atwww.ukri.org .
