This is an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher reporting to Dr Ben Seymour. They will take a leading role in the Japan-UK based collaboration in the interdisciplinary field of information science, neuroscience, and clinical field of pain and arthritis research. This role involves planning, writing and organising international collaborative activities including new grants, symposia and conferences, and industry collaborations with Japan.

The postholder will be a member of a research group undertaking research in the area of human pain, with a focus on computational neuroscience, engineering and AI approaches and neuroimaging. The successful candidate will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group in Japan and the UK in the broader field of computational cognitive neuroscience, including engineers, postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.

The postholder will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience in joint field of information science and pain neuroscience. It is also essential that they possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline of information science and pain neuroscience to work within established research programmes. It is also vital to the role that they are able to independently manager their own academic research and associated activities as well as the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects. It would be beneficial if the postholder was fluent in Japanese alongside English at the level of technical reading and writing.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
