The Oxford Martin Programme on Global Development studies the global, long-term change in living conditions and humanity’s impact on the environment. Its mission is to understand and communicate the historical change up to the present moment and to study the most global problems today and the opportunities for the global future.

The Oxford Martin Programme on Global Development is also the home of the research team of the open-access online publication Our World in Data.

Our World in Data covers a wide range of topics across many academic disciplines: global health, food provision, the growth and distribution of incomes, violence, rights, wars, culture, energy use, education, and humanity’s impact on the environment.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D/D.Phil in a Social Sciences subject and previous experience studying causes, trends, and measures of technological change. They will also have sufficient specialist knowledge to work within other established research programmes in areas related to the future of technology such as health innovations, new information technologies, and artificial intelligence. Previous experience engaging in academic outreach and scientific writing for policymakers and the general public is essential.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will not only manage your own research but also review articles and data visualisations produced by other members of the team, as well as contributing ideas for new research projects. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to produce academic articles for publication in Our World in Data and in peer-reviewed academic journals.

This full-time position is fixed term for 2 years.
