The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki invites applications for the position of POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER for a fixed three-year period starting on the 1st of September, 2023.

The position is part of the project “Structural Analysis of Non-Gaussian Time Series with Applications to Climate and Macroeconomy” funded by the Academy of Finland. The primary aim of the project is to develop new econometric methods related to non-Gaussian structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) models and apply them to study the economic effects of climate change. The project builds upon our previous research on SVAR models . The position is located in the Discipline of Economics.

The successful applicant should contribute to the research themes of the project. In addition, they are expected to actively contribute to teaching in the master’s and doctoral programmes in economics (up to 5% of the annual working time), and other research activities of the group.

Qualifications

The appointee to the position must hold a doctoral degree in economics, econometrics, statistics or another relevant field, and have strong skills in quantitative methods and an excellent command of English. The default assumption is that the degree requirement must be met by the beginning of the employment. The applicant’s research interests should be aligned with the goals of the project and the research areas of the research group. Knowledge of the Finnish language is not required.
