We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to participate in the Ludwig Cancer Research funded research programme led by Professor Xin Lu and Professor Christopher Toepfer, to study induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.
You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities, which will involve small scale project management, co-ordinating multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will also adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, such as PhD and project students.
It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a relevant discipline, together with experience in using standard molecular, cellular biology techniques and expertise with organoids. You will have a background in cardiotoxicity research, and have experience with iPSC culture and differentiation to cardiomyocytes. It is essential that you have excellent communication skill, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 3 years, and is funded by the Ludwig Institute.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 24 October 2022 will be considered. Please quote 160729 on all correspondence.
