Updated: 4 months ago
Location: Exeter, ENGLAND
Deadline: 08 Jan 2024

Salary Details

The starting salary will be from £41,732 on Grade F, depending on qualifications and experience.

The role

Following the award of a £5 million grant from Research England (UKRI) to the University of Exeter to deliver the Developing Business-Aware Academics project, the Business School is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Impact Fellow.

The project, led by Professor Alison Truelove, involves working closely with a range of external stakeholders, including the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), other universities, and industrial partners. It will pilot and evaluate a range of initiatives aimed at helping doctoral and early-career researchers – from across all disciplines – to develop the business awareness and competencies that improve innovation and knowledge exchange across academia and industry.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with other members of the project team at Exeter, and with external partners, to design and run multi-disciplinary networking opportunities for doctoral and early-career researchers interested in engaging with business and industry. The role holder will continually develop this evidence-led programme of activity to the point where it can be sustained beyond the lifetime of the funded project, and contribute to the generation of research outputs, including case studies. The successful applicant will also harness the influential networks of our partners to build a campaign to champion the advantages of enhanced collaboration between academia and industry.

This Research England (UKRI) funded post is available immediately until the project end date of 30th June 2027. Flexible, hybrid and part-time working will be considered.

About you

Applicants should have a demonstrable interest in engaging in education- and engagement-focused research, with some experience of evaluating the impact of initiatives focusing on professional and/or academic development. Prior experience of working with diverse teams across academic disciplines as well as outside of university contexts is preferable.

You will be able to demonstrate excellence in developing research objectives, projects and proposals; identifying sources of additional research funding; and making presentations at conferences and other events.

You will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification in a related field of study, with evidence of being able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
