The post

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the “Development of a regional green hydrogen plan for the South West” project, an exciting collaboration between the University of Exeter and two innovative industrial partners, Emerald Green Power and CityScience. The successful applicant will develop simulation, visualisation and optimisation tools for the strategic planning of green hydrogen generation in the South West. 

The post will involve the investigation of existing simulation, visualisation and optimisation approaches to energy network infrastructure and planning (including hardware); identifying the most appropriate approaches and performing gap analysis on the literature; developing appropriate methods, and assisting in the writing of scholarly publications.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in Computer Science and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to program in a high-level language (preferably C++ or Python), conduct literature reviews and write reports and have an established level of experience working with simulation and visualisation applied to energy infrastructure or similar problems.
