Please note that as of 1st September 2022 our colleges and schools have moved into a new structure which consists of the following three Faculties – Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, (to include the Medical School),  Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, and Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. 

Summary of the role  

The post

The Harries lab has interests in RNA biology, and how it interfaces with ageing and age-related common chronic disease. This opportunity is for a senior researcher to join our team for overall lab management oversight, input into research strategy and direction and to aid Professor Harries in mentoring junior team members. In addition to participation in research across the Harries lab portfolio, the postholder will be encouraged and given space to develop their own independent research interests.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in biological data analysis or a related subject. The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of a wide range of cutting edge genomics and transcriptomics techniques. Specialist knowledge in the RNA or tissue engineering space will be an advantage. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Laboratory management skills would be an advantage. The ideal applicant will be familiar with contemporary imaging techniques, be familiar with the generation and integration of multi-omic data and able to supervise others efficiently.
