This new full-time position is available immediately for a fixed term contract of around 12 months. Flexible working arrangements including remote working may be possible with this post.  

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in analysing UK Biobank data to undertake studies relating to dementia risk factors and brain health. This BBSRC funded post is available immediately for 12 months. The successful applicant will join an international team which have been highly successful in using UK Biobank to investigate genetics, imaging, and dementia risk factors (previous related publications include JAMA, Lancet Healthy Longevity, BMC Medicine, JAMA Neurology, JNNP etc.). The post will include the analysis of UK Biobank data under the guidance of Prof David Llewellyn and national and international collaborators through the DEMON Network (see www.demondementia.com ). This post will suit a dynamic flexible individual who wants to make their mark by publishing high quality articles and building their international profile.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in data science and/or machine learning and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to analyse health data using specialised statistical packages and/or use machine learning approaches.
