Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Location: Exeter, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 21 Jun 2022

The post

This UKRI funded post is available from 26th  Sept 2022 for just under 3 years (until 4th  Sept 2025). The successful applicant will undertake interdisciplinary analysis of the consequences of the wider land use change associated with the introduction of new agricultural production technology in the UK, as part of a large multidisciplinary project (Transformational blueprint for a blue economy on UK terrestrial farms: integrating sustainable shrimp production in a changing agricultural landscape)’, within the UKRI’s Transforming UK Food Systems Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) Programme.

The successful applicant will work with agricultural economics colleagues who are examining the economics of such systems, and relate this information to variation in the environment, to highlight those areas with high economic suitability for such production systems. The research will then assess how such production systems directly affect the environmental characteristics of the farms. In particular the shift from conventional animal protein production (e.g. beef and lamb grazing) alters the greenhouse gas emission profiles of farms. The  indirect environmental impacts of the introduction of such systems will also be investigated.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
