This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home. 

This new part-time (0.6% FTE) post is available at our Truro campus from 01/08/2022 on a fixed term basis until 30/09/2026. 

Please note that as of 1st September 2022 our colleges and schools will be moving into a new structure which will consist of the following three Faculties – Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, (to include the Medical School),  Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, and Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

Summary of the role

The post

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant or Fellow to contribute to the PRP funded GroundsWell project. GroundsWell aims to maximise the contribution of Urban Green- and Blue-Space (UGBS) to the primary prevention and reduction of inequalities in non-communicable disease. The successful applicant will use realist evaluative and/or related methods to critically co-explore decision-making arrangements and contexts of UGBS initiatives for equitable health and environmental co-benefits, aiming to identify actions to improve policy- and decision-making.

About you  

For grade EPostdoctoral Research Associate, the successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies. Applicants will possess or be nearing completion a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have experience or knowledge of research methodologies such as realist evaluation, qualitative comparative analysis, and other related methods used to understand complex systems. 

For grade F Postdoctoral Research Fellow the successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events. Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in public health or health and/or spatial decision making and will possess sufficient specialist knowledge to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will have experience or knowledge of research methodologies such as realist evaluation, qualitative comparative analysis, and other related methods used to understand complex systems.
