Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Computational Biology
RDM Investigative Medicine, Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford
Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 p.a.
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research scientist to work with the Koohy and Simmons labs based at the MRC Human Immunology Unit, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford. This is an outstanding opportunity to work on a Chan Zuckerberg pediatric networks programme examining intestinal barrier immunity through development into adulthood. The objectives of the project are to understand the immune processes underpinning development of a healthy intestinal barrier and in defining immune pathways leading to key intestinal childhood diseases. Understanding mechanisms of gastrointestinal disease is our aim with a view to defining common pathways by which the immune system maintains intestinal health, fights infection or drives inflammation. The work involves working in an interdisciplinary team with expertise in functional genetics, cell biology, human molecular pathology and murine transgenic models.
A number of computational biology research projects are available in the areas of single cell RNA-Seq and multi-omics data analysis; immune repertoire analysis; spatial transcriptomics/proteomics and image analysis; and development of new computational methods and models for spatial data analysis. We are seeking candidates with expertise in any of: data analysis of large scale single cell sequencing datasets; spatial transcriptomics or proteomics datasets; immune repertoires; computational methods/software development for analysis of single cell sequencing or spatial datasets; biomedical image analysis; machine learning and/or statistical model development using single cell sequencing or biomedical imaging datasets.
You will work in close collaboration with lab-based colleagues responsible for the generation of single cell multi-omics and spatial datasets, participating in experimental design and steering of the project. You will be working within a computational research group and will take a collaborative approach to research working closely with a diverse team to formulate and validate hypotheses.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Hashem Koohy, [email protected] , Dr Antanaviciute, [email protected] and Professor Alison Simmons, [email protected]
This post is available for 24 months with the opportunity for extension.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 11 February 2022 will be considered.
